The Bradford breakin scene has been going from strength to strength over the years and each edition of Bradford Brawl continues to raise the bar. For the Bboys and Bgirls of Bradford, this internal event has become a highlight of the year. Dancers dedicate months to crafting their showcases and sharpening their skills for the battles, all aiming to leave their mark on Bradford’s breakin history. With Bradford Brawl 2026 just around the corner, lets take a look back at what went down last year. Last year's edition of Bradford Brawl marked the largest and most exciting one to date. The anticipation in the lead-up, from all crews and competitors was nothing short of electric. Special guests began arriving a few days before the event and the energy could be felt through every class as we edged closer to the Saturday. Every crew entered with clear goals, creating a thrilling atmosphere of competition and performance. The level of preparation and dedication from the breakin community as a whole was incredible. Bboy Marius, representing MDK (UK), kicked off Bradford Brawl with his workshop in the morning. The turnout was exceptional, with almost 30 Bboys and Bgirls in attendance! Although Marius has taught previous workshops in Bradford before, no one wanted to miss what he had to share this time around. The high quality of Marius’ workshops is evident – people always want to come back for more. Some Bboys and Bgirls took things further and applied what was taught just a few hours later at the event. What happened at Tech Styles 10?

Tech Styles 10 will officially go down in Bradford’s history as the biggest and most incredible event to date, taking the city’s scene and reputation to a whole new level. Bboys & Bgirls from all over the world travelled to connect, exchange and celebrate the tenth edition of Tech Styles as an audience of over 250 packed in to witness these world class match-ups and hip hop at its best. Within the city, the Bradford scene showed up in full force, truly embodying all the teachings, stories and energy shared throughout the event week by our guest artists. The event week as a whole had many highs, as we had artists from over 10 different countries arrive in Bradford including Togo, Africa, Mexico, Texas, Switzerland, France, London, Canada, Sweden and more. It meant a lot to the team to have these crews and individuals join us for the tenth edition and Bradford was blessed to be the home for so many incredible legends and pioneers of breakin culture. Some of the first guests to arrive were the Rock Star Crew (Togo, Africa). At Tech Styles 9, we were finally able to invite Bboy Rodi over to be a part of our esteemed judging panel after many years of connections, plans and work. Bboy Tranquil | 25 Years of Breakin | Celebration & BEM Award

Lloyd Thompson (Bboy Tranquil), recently celebrated 25 years of breakin at Bradford’s premier breakin event Tech Styles 10. On Friday 14th November, the Bradford breakin scene and Clean North Crew awarded Tranquil with a custom plaque, graffiti mural piece and a documentary style video as a tribute towards his dedication in hip-hop and breakin. Soon after, he received a British Empire Medal (BEM) and has been named in the King's New Year Honours List for 2026 for his services to Young People and to the community in Bradford through Hip Hop and Dance. Read below about his journey through breakin and how he came to receive this incredible award! Tranquil first began breakin in Bradford in the year 2000 with his lifelong brother and crew member Mark Yeadon (Bboy Stylez). After first being introduced to the artform at a youth sports camp, the pair never looked back and have now become legendary Bboys in the UK scene, paving the way for many generations to come. Lloyd has travelled all over the world with his dance, competing and performing in every continent, connecting with many incredible dancers and learning first-hand from the pioneers and legends of this culture. He has many major wins under his belt, including a European title. Not only this, he also battled as a part of Flava Squad for over 5 years, one of the world’s most respected and looked up to crews of the 2010s. What happened at Tech Styles 9?

Tech Styles 9 took things to new heights in 2024, with Bboys and Bgirls arriving from all over the world, the anticipation of the event was magnificent. We were able to connect people from every continent and walks of life, to celebrate and experience the breakin culture and scene here in Bradford. Within the community, this event fueled and kick-started a whole new energy and level for the next generation of Bboys and Bgirls in the city and showed them the possibilities and heights they can reach. The event was a real celebration of Bradford history, bringing hometown legends Dr Candy and Skittles back to the city to share their stories, expertise and experiences will all the generations of Bradford and beyond. It meant a lot for the team to have these incredible dancers join us once again, as if it weren’t for their contributions, the landscape of the Bradford scene would look a lot different. Bradford was also blessed to be the home of so many international and national guests, such as the iconic Bgirl Asia One (USA), one of France’s premier crews and our defending champions Immigrandz! Paris 2024 Breaking | Tech Styles International & Clean North Crew

On August 9th and 10th, breaking made its debut in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. During this weekend, four members of Clean North Crew were flown out by Tech Styles International to battle in France at the ‘Not Only Jam’ and spend a weekend in the city where breaking was being broadcasted for the first time on this global platform. They met and reunited with many French and international breakers over the three days, whilst also reaching the semi-finals in the crew battles with only four members. The crew had a busy summer, battling in the UK and putting on a creative and inspiring summer camp for the younger generations of Bradford. Therefore, coming to Paris was the perfect opportunity for the crew to spend quality time with each other and celebrate the achievements of this year. The Bboy and Bgirls arrived early on the Saturday morning, briefly exploring the local area and then travelling straight to the event. As soon as they arrived the energy from the dancers could be felt from outside of the venue. Walking in, the cyphers were already in full swing despite the hot weather and the crew were quickly met with a few familiar faces from the UK. The cypher qualifications began and Bboy Tranquil, Bgirl Labyrinth, Spider and Ammo, set out to show the unique Bradford style, qualifying for top 8.The quarter-final battle against Golden Monkeys Crew from Paris was a hype start to the event and Clean North took it, two votes to one moving on to top 4. Clean North R&D | Grand Theatre Blackpool | Breakin Convention

Clean North had one of the most incredible weekends they have had as a crew in recent years.
