Bboy Tranquil | 25 Years of Breakin | Celebration & BEM Award

Lloyd Thompson (Bboy Tranquil), recently celebrated 25 years of breakin at Bradford’s premier breakin event Tech Styles 10. On Friday 14th November, the Bradford breakin scene and Clean North Crew awarded Tranquil with a custom plaque, graffiti mural piece and a documentary style video as a tribute towards his dedication in hip-hop and breakin. Soon after, he received a British Empire Medal (BEM) and has been named in the King's New Year Honours List for 2026 for his services to Young People and to the community in Bradford through Hip Hop and Dance. Read below about his journey through breakin and how he came to receive this incredible award! Tranquil first began breakin in Bradford in the year 2000 with his lifelong brother and crew member Mark Yeadon (Bboy Stylez). After first being introduced to the artform at a youth sports camp, the pair never looked back and have now become legendary Bboys in the UK scene, paving the way for many generations to come. Lloyd has travelled all over the world with his dance, competing and performing in every continent, connecting with many incredible dancers and learning first-hand from the pioneers and legends of this culture. He has many major wins under his belt, including a European title. Not only this, he also battled as a part of Flava Squad for over 5 years, one of the world’s most respected and looked up to crews of the 2010s. Early in his breaking career, Tranquil began Clean North Crew, who have been actively representing, battling and performing worldwide for 24 years now. He has led this collective remarkably, continuing to bring younger generations up and teaching them [...]

Clean North Crew at Bgirl City XIII | Tech Styles International

Returning to Texas and Bgirl City after the inspiring 2024 visit felt essential and once again the crew were welcomed with open arms by Beast Boogie (HaviKoro). The first trip felt like a dream, so this time the crew were determined to soak up every moment. They arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, ready to reconnect with the culture and community and fuel their creativity, whilst settling into some training in the garage and front garden. By Thursday evening, the energy of the trip shifted into high gear, just like last year and the incredible moments just kept building from there. If you have been with us from the start, or you have just landed here, stay tuned as we’re gearing up to unveil something special towards the end of this blog! Beast Boogie ensured the crew could revisit their favourite 2024 hangouts while also discovering some new gems. They hit up Texas staples like Whataburger and H‑E‑B, the beloved regional supermarket. Their quality local produce made home‑cooking a must this trip. They also swung by The Galleria, 3 Salsas, Salata and more. Places that champion local produce and place fresh ingredients at the forefront is a world away from what can be found daily back home. This combined with true southern hospitality made connecting around the table and creating new and lasting memories so enjoyable. We have to give a big thank you to Beast Boogie’s parents for treating the crew to the delicious traditional Mexican meals. These evenings quickly became some of the best on the trip and the generosity is truly appreciated. [...]

Clean North Crew to Mexico | Paradise Battle | Tech Styles International

In June of 2025, we were blessed to be able to send 11 Bboys and Bgirls from the Clean North Crew to Playa Del Carmen in Mexico, to compete in the Paradise Battle Breaking Event. This trip marked the first international experience for the entire crew and we thank God, Bradford 2025 and the British Council for being able to provide them with such an opportunity. So many lessons were learnt, connections made and so much culture was experienced in the week that the crew spent there and all of this knowledge will be passed down to the current and future generations of Bradford’s Bboys and Bgirls! On Wednesday, June 11th, the crew embarked on their unforgettable journey to Mexico, excitement high with unknown expectations. Upon arrival at Cancun airport, the tropical humidity hit them straight away and despite not being dressed correctly for this, it only increased the energy and anticipation between them. A short drive to the Hotel and the crew were once again set back in shock, but this time at the breathtaking scenery of Playa Del Carmen's coastline. After settling into their accommodation, the crew took time to recharge, relax and bond over a refreshing swim in the ocean, which was well deserved after almost a full day travelling! The first full day began with a nutritious breakfast, shared as a team, setting the tone for a balanced and mindful few days before the battles on the weekend. Eating clean is a huge priority for Clean North, especially in the run up to an event and they were so blessed to be able to enjoy the food Mexico had to offer. During normal day to day life it [...]

Clean North Crew represents in Bordeaux 2025

The Bboy's and Bgirl's of the Clean North Crew were blessed to start 2025 on an incredible high, as they were given the opportunity to visit Bordeaux for a third time in February, thanks to Tech Styles International. Travelling abroad with all members of the crew is a rarity, so they were extremely excited to be returning to the city as a full squad. In past years, Bordeaux has brought so many hip-hop lessons to life, giving the crew an opportunity to take many teachings back to the younger generation in Bradford. This trip was no exception, with more elements to be implemented in future too! Arriving on the Friday evening, the energy was high, as the crew began to see the beautiful sights of the city, talking and reminiscing on the tram together as they drove into the centre. For Bgirl Fox, Ruby Rock and Dexy, this experience was a first for them and they began to see the attractions and landscape that had been described to them many a time. Over the weekend, the crew took time to take the newcomers to their beloved spots and treasures in the city and one of these included the Les Halles Baclan food market. After a long day of travel, re-visiting the food market definitely did not disappoint, walking round the numerous stalls the crew picked up some of their favourite items, appreciating the delicious and nutritious food to prepare them for the breaking events over the weekend. Bgirl Labyrinth, Clean North Crew This was my third time in Bordeaux and it was beautiful to see others experience it for the first time. No matter what we would've shared about the first two trips, [...]

What happened at Tech Styles 9?

Tech Styles 9 took things to new heights in 2024, with Bboys and Bgirls arriving from all over the world, the anticipation of the event was magnificent. We were able to connect people from every continent and walks of life, to celebrate and experience the breakin culture and scene here in Bradford. Within the community, this event fueled and kick-started a whole new energy and level for the next generation of Bboys and Bgirls in the city and showed them the possibilities and heights they can reach. The event was a real celebration of Bradford history, bringing hometown legends Dr Candy and Skittles back to the city to share their stories, expertise and experiences will all the generations of Bradford and beyond. It meant a lot for the team to have these incredible dancers join us once again, as if it weren’t for their contributions, the landscape of the Bradford scene would look a lot different. Bradford was also blessed to be the home of so many international and national guests, such as the iconic Bgirl Asia One (USA), one of France’s premier crews and our defending champions Immigrandz! We also saw Beast Boogie return to the judging panel, alongside UK legend Lil’ Tim and the well respected Bboy Marius. The first guest to arrive was very special to the Tech Styles team. Back in 2020, we put on our ‘Tech Styles Digital’ event and through this we were able to connect with many phenomenal dancers from across the world. One of these dancers was called Bboy Rodi, representing Rock Star Crew from Lome Togo (Africa). With the help of the British Council and Bradford 2025, we were finally able to bring Rodi [...]

Bradford Represents Worldwide

2024 has been an incredible year at Tech Styles International. We have been working with the bboys & bgirls of Clean North Crew and they have been able to reach new heights in the international breaking scene. They have travelled all around the world and the UK in the last year including Texas, Bordeaux, Slovenia, New York, Paris, China, England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales! They have trained, battled, experienced new places and met new people in the Hip Hop scene. In just the past 2 months, the crew have represented strong, as they have had three wins and also received three event invites. We thank God for all these opportunities for Clean North and we feel it will only continue going into 2025! At the end of august, Bgirl Ammo and Bboy Tranquil travelled to London, where Ammo competed in the Youth Breaking GB Camp. After some dynamic and captivating match-ups, Ammo took the win and became the UK’s under 19 Bgirl Champion, earning her spot to compete in Wuxi, China at the World Youth Breakin Championships! She showcased her individual style, representing the true Bradford way. Then just a few days after this incredible feat, she was invited to her first ever Red Bull BC One event in London, to compete against some of the UK’s best breakers! ''Getting a Red Bull invite was a goal of mine for a very long time. I can only thank my crew for constantly pushing me and preparing me for everything that comes my way. It was as much a win for me, as it was for them! Dancing on the mainstage felt amazing, representing Bradford and Clean North and having my people behind [...]

Paris 2024 Breaking | Tech Styles International & Clean North Crew

On August 9th and 10th, breaking made its debut in the 2024 Olympics in Paris. During this weekend, four members of Clean North Crew were flown out by Tech Styles International to battle in France at the ‘Not Only Jam’ and spend a weekend in the city where breaking was being broadcasted for the first time on this global platform. They met and reunited with many French and international breakers over the three days, whilst also reaching the semi-finals in the crew battles with only four members. The crew had a busy summer, battling in the UK and putting on a creative and inspiring summer camp for the younger generations of Bradford. Therefore, coming to Paris was the perfect opportunity for the crew to spend quality time with each other and celebrate the achievements of this year. The Bboy and Bgirls arrived early on the Saturday morning, briefly exploring the local area and then travelling straight to the event. As soon as they arrived the energy from the dancers could be felt from outside of the venue. Walking in, the cyphers were already in full swing despite the hot weather and the crew were quickly met with a few familiar faces from the UK. The cypher qualifications began and Bboy Tranquil, Bgirl Labyrinth, Spider and Ammo, set out to show the unique Bradford style, qualifying for top 8.The quarter-final battle against Golden Monkeys Crew from Paris was a hype start to the event and Clean North took it, two votes to one moving on to top 4. The semi-final battle against Paris’ own Badefficience Crew was a close match up and a dope exchange. Although Clean North didn’t [...]

Bradford Brawl Breakin Event 2024 | Recap

It has been just over a week since Bradford Brawl 2024 breakin event and what an amazing event it was! This was definitely the biggest Bradford Brawl battles we have had to date. The build up for the team, the bboys and bgirls was incredible. We had special guests arriving earlier in the week and there was excitement and energy across all the classes the closer we got to the event. Each crew had their own targets going into this year’s Bradford Brawl, so everyone was anticipating how the battles and showcases would play out. There had been a lot of preparation and time put in from the breaking community as a whole. Bboy Tobi, representing Recession Squad (Ireland), kicked off Bradford Brawl with his workshop in the morning. The turnout was like no other, with 29 Bboys and Bgirls in attendance! This is the most amount of breakers we have ever seen attend a guest workshop and this includes workshops we have visited in other countries, all over the world. Tobi did an amazing job, he really instilled key Hip Hop values into the Bboys and Bgirls, which was great to see. Bboy Tobi is our first guest from overseas for Bradford Brawl which made this even more special. West Side Breakers were the first showcase opening up the event with an explosive start. It was great to see that they have grown and progressed as a crew, since the last event. The Concrete Roses showcase followed right after and it included a lot of great transitions and tricks. Concrete Roses have some of the more experienced dancers from the new generation within their crew and this could [...]
