Returning to Texas and Bgirl City after the inspiring 2024 visit felt essential and once again the crew were welcomed with open arms by Beast Boogie (HaviKoro). The first trip felt like a dream, so this time the crew were determined to soak up every moment. They arrived on a Tuesday afternoon, ready to reconnect with the culture and community and fuel their creativity, whilst settling into some training in the garage and front garden. By Thursday evening, the energy of the trip shifted into high gear, just like last year and the incredible moments just kept building from there. If you have been with us from the start, or you have just landed here, stay tuned as we’re gearing up to unveil something special towards the end of this blog!

Beast Boogie ensured the crew could revisit their favourite 2024 hangouts while also discovering some new gems. They hit up Texas staples like Whataburger and H‑E‑B, the beloved regional supermarket. Their quality local produce made home‑cooking a must this trip. They also swung by The Galleria, 3 Salsas, Salata and more. Places that champion local produce and place fresh ingredients at the forefront is a world away from what can be found daily back home. This combined with true southern hospitality made connecting around the table and creating new and lasting memories so enjoyable. We have to give a big thank you to Beast Boogie’s parents for treating the crew to the delicious traditional Mexican meals. These evenings quickly became some of the best on the trip and the generosity is truly appreciated.

When Thursday evening rolled around, it was finally time to head back to the Houston reVision training spot. Houston reVision is an organisation that goes back decades in the Texas scene and has a big focus on helping and guiding the youth, especially those that are in risk. That session on the first trip in 2024 had left a real impression; the warm welcome and the spontaneous lottery battles created an energy like no other training spot they had experience before. If you’re visiting Houston, this is the perfect way to plug into the local breakin community before the main event hits. Tranquil, Labyrinth and Ammo even reunited with UK Bgirl Nat, who was attending Bgirl City for the first time!

Day 1 of Bgirl City kicked off with an excellent workshop from Resilient Recovery, who guided everyone through valuable mobility exercises and injury recovery techniques. Jacky’s expert skills and methods didn’t just shine in the session, they proved essential throughout the weekend with many dancers benefiting from on-site support. The tips learned through Resilient Recovery have been passed on to the rest of Clean North Crew, feeding into the research and development journey they have been on for the past few years. The event even had dedicated stall was key for anyone managing injuries over the course of the day. A big thank you to Resilient Recovery and Jacky for all the support and to Bgirl City for having the foresight to make these resources available for the dancers. The crew also had a heartfelt reunion with Bgirl Trinity and N’Tegrity, two powerhouse New York Bgirls who, as a duo, bring unstoppable energy and were instrumental in shaping their unforgettable 2024 Houston experience. From day one, they’ve supported Labyrinth and Ammo like family and this year, their encouragement and energy picked right up where it left off.

The second workshop featured Bgirl Wonda (USA), who guided the Bboys and Bgirls through cypher etiquette and battle strategy. Her presence was unmatched and her insights on respect, timing and flow in the circle resonated deeply with everyone present. This was a powerful workshop with lots to learn from. Next up was Sheopatra (The Council Women, USA) who led a fun, engaging session on the history and artistry of Memphis jookin’. Drawing from a style rooted in gliding footwork and street culture, she brought both knowledge and excitement to the floor, making it the perfect way to wrap up Day 1. Thanks again to Resilient Recovery, Bgirl Wonda, and Sheopatra for sharing their wisdom and passion!

Day 2 of Bgirl City opened with the final workshop of the weekend, led by the incredible Bgirl Nadia (Da Funky Style, Siberia). This was highly anticipated by the crew, as they’ve long admired her style and presence, especially after seeing her bring that funk to the WDSF event in Manchester (UK) back in 2022. This wasn’t your typical breakin workshop, it felt similar to a TED Talk, as Nadia took everyone through her personal journey, sharing her challenges, motivations, inspirations and the deeper “why” behind her artistry. It was less about technique and more about identity, who you are, how that shapes your dance and why knowing yourself is key to authentic expression. It was a powerful and reflective way to start off a day of competition, reminding everyone that breakin is not just movement—it’s art and it’s personal. Nadia’s openness set a meaningful tone for the rest of the day. A massive thank you to her for such a thought-provoking and inspiring session, especially before the battles ahead.

Bboy Tranquil judged the Beginner and Advanced Youth battles alongside Klou (RAD & MZK) and Allover (United Bboys) at Bgirl City this year. It was an honour for Tranquil to be invited back to the panel, especially after judging the 1v1 40 and Up battles in 2024. Witnessing the younger generation express themselves and compete is always exciting to see. The talent, passion and raw creativity can make for some unforgettable moments and rounds. Bgirl Hannini representing Mexico went on to take the win in the Youth Beginner 1v1s and Bboy Motion (Good Vibe Crew) claimed the title in the Youth Advanced category. Well done to these two dancers!

Then it was onto the Bgirl battles, where Bradford’s very own Labyrinth and Ammo could show what the Clean North raw style and creativity is all about. After reaching the semi-finals in the 2v2 Bgirl category back in 2024, they returned bursting with energy for the 1v1 battles. Labyrinth stormed through during the qualifiers, delivering her signature moves earning her an overall 2nd place in the ranking. Ammo held strong too with her precision and clean cut style, maintaining great form throughout her rounds, breaking into the Top 16, while Labyrinth advanced to the Top 8. Amongst a formidable lineup, both Bgirls flew the Bradford flag high, showcasing their talent and further raising their city’s profile. You can check out some of their rounds below!
The excitement continued to build throughout the Battle Days – with the Bonnie & Clyde battles, 1v1 Rocking, 40 & Up and more. It was an event not to be missed. A massive shout out to everyone who competed! You all brought incredible energy across both days. There were countless standout moments and a huge amount of inspiration to take away – just like last year.
Congratulations to the Bonnie & Clyde champions Mace and Solid, Bgirl Nadia for claiming the 1v1 Rocking title, Bboy Data (Vicious By Nature) clenching the 40 & Up title and Bgirl Nikki V (Dynamic Rockers) for taking the top spot in the Bgirl 1v1s—well deserved wins all around!

Over their last few days in Houston, Tranquil, Labyrinth and Ammo made every moment count—eating well, training hard and diving deeper into the local scene. A highlight was their first trip to Galveston, where they visited Winners Circle school, run by Bboys Marcus and Valencio (HaviKoro, IllaKoro and TMB). They kindly invited the Bgirls to perform during one of their school showcases. It was a great opportunity to be involved in, seeing the Texan Bboys seek to mentor a new generation of dancers, share their passion and weave this culture into the Galveston community. Afterwards, the crew enjoyed an incredible walk on the beach taking in the views of the Gulf of Mexico.

Later that day, they attended a Houston ReVision training session, marking their final time connecting with the local breakin community. That few hours of shared practice were amazing, allowing them to make newer connections and exchange further with the local breakers. It was the perfect finale to another unforgettable trip. Special shout out to Bgirl Galleta (Break Efx Crew), Enrique (3D crew) and Legend (ODA Collective and Unik Breakers) for the exchanges, tips and support!

“We went to experience the event once again, compete, represent, reconnect and connect with new people, but what we got out of it was that and so much more. So grateful to Tech Styles International for allowing me share in this experience once again with Tranquil and Ammo. It was a truly beautiful trip that has taught me a lot about life and myself as a dancer. Thank you to Beast Boogie for hosting us once again. And also a big thank you to Bgirl City. Keep doing what you are doing. We love you!”
If you haven’t experienced Bgirl City and the Houston scene yet, it’s an absolute must. The event comes from such a genuine, heartfelt place and that’s what gives the entire trip its beauty. There’s truly nothing else like it. Go with your crew because experiencing it together makes it even better. We also want to encourage more of the breakin community to participate in workshops and attend training sessions where available when travelling. Whether you’re just starting out or have been dancing for years, learning never stops in this culture. You’ll find your artistry evolves as long as you do. That message echoed throughout the trip and holds so much value. Thank God, Babygirl and the entire Bgirl City team for another incredible experience. We hope the crew can return soon!
