2024 has been an incredible year at Tech Styles International. We have been working with the bboys & bgirls of Clean North Crew and they have been able to reach new heights in the international breaking scene. They have travelled all around the world and the UK in the last year including Texas, Bordeaux, Slovenia, New York, Paris, China, England, Ireland, Scotland & Wales! They have trained, battled, experienced new places and met new people in the Hip Hop scene. In just the past 2 months, the crew have represented strong, as they have had three wins and also received three event invites. We thank God for all these opportunities for Clean North and we feel it will only continue going into 2025!
At the end of august, Bgirl Ammo and Bboy Tranquil travelled to London, where Ammo competed in the Youth Breaking GB Camp. After some dynamic and captivating match-ups, Ammo took the win and became the UK’s under 19 Bgirl Champion, earning her spot to compete in Wuxi, China at the World Youth Breakin Championships! She showcased her individual style, representing the true Bradford way. Then just a few days after this incredible feat, she was invited to her first ever Red Bull BC One event in London, to compete against some of the UK’s best breakers!
”Getting a Red Bull invite was a goal of mine for a very long time. I can only thank my crew for constantly pushing me and preparing me for everything that comes my way. It was as much a win for me, as it was for them! Dancing on the mainstage felt amazing, representing Bradford and Clean North and having my people behind me!” There is no feeling like it.
Red Bull BC One is known to be one of the world’s most prestigious and watched breakin events in the world and not only did Ammo receive an invite, Bgirl Spider also represented Bradford and Clean North to the fullest in the qualifiers on the Saturday and was selected as one of the top 8 Bgirls! Her individual character and raw battle persona allowed her to thrive and she left an amazing impression in London.

The day Ammo returned from London her and Bboy Tranquil flew out to Wuxi, China on the Monday evening. It was a long journey, as they arrived in China on the Wednesday morning. The duo had the most incredible trip, making connections and meeting breakers from all around the world, exploring the beautiful sights of the Liangxi district and experiencing the local culture. This trip had so many highlights and learning curves, that there will be a designated blog post coming soon, sharing the duos insight on this once in a lifetime opportunity.
After this flurry of events through August and September, the crew returned to Bradford, training harder than ever and celebrating the wins and experiences that the summer brought them. Through this time they remained close and the energy between them only grew as more battle opportunities arose.
Not long after in October, Bboy Stylez earned the next victory for Clean North, gaining an incredible win at a 1v1 jam in Wrexham, Wales called Avant Cymru. Bboy Stylez is the second Clean North member to hold this title as Bgirl Labyrinth won the victory in 2023. Labyrinth’s detailed style and confidence is appreciated by all, as her love for the dance drove her through to the final again. However, the energy Stylez brought all day was undeniable and his explosive but intricate style left everyone in awe gaining him the win!
‘’ Winning in Wrexham felt amazing, its not about the money, when I won, I felt the happiness of my whole crew behind me, knowing my family was there cheering me on. One of the greatest feelings.’’
Only a week after Wales, three of Clean Norths’ Bgirls: Fox, Labyrinth and Ammo, flew to Dublin, Ireland as a 3v3 invite for the Top 8 Street Dance Battle. The battle day was an intense and thrilling experience, as the trio represented strong- inspiring the upcoming Irish Bgirls and leaving a lasting impression on the competition and scene.
”I always appreciate Tobi, Deborah and the Top 8 team for having the Clean North Bgirls represent. We love to battle and we like to show that females can be just as strong as the Bboys, the top 8 team always provide us with a platform to do this. We also want to encourage other girls to try our amazing artform and hopefully help build the female scene in Ireland. Thank you once again, if you haven’t been to a top8 event, check it out!”
Earlier in the year, Tech Styles International supported the crew in returning to Blackpool for the Rock The Coast Jam. All members of Clean North made it to the top 16 2v2s but Bgirl Labyrinth and Bboy Tranquil fought their way to the semi-finals, where they had a hype exchange with two Bboys representing, Heavy Smokers Crew, Scotland. Here, a connection was made and a few months later Bgirl Labyrinth received an invite for “Break the Castle” in Edinburgh! Her constant drive and unique approach to the dance never goes unnoticed as she became one of only two invites for this event!
Returning after seven years, Bboy Tranquil and Bgirl Labyrinth entered the seven to smoke category as well as Bgirl Ammo, who was experiencing the city for the first time. Yet again, all three members performed well, each showcasing their individual style and leaving the crowd in suspense after each intense match-up. The Bradford style shone throughout the whole battle, as each member began to gain points. However, Bgirl Ammo was the first to receive seven points and ultimately became the Seven To Smoke champion. Not only this, but a few moments later she was also awarded ‘Queen Of The Castle’, a unique title to the event itself. All in all, the battle was a success, as Clean North left on a high and spent the remainder of the trip celebrating the year together.
The last few months of 2024 have been an extremely busy, but an amazing time for the crew, as they feel blessed to have experienced such amazing trips together. Thanks to God and Tech Styles International, the crew have been able to support each other in person throughout every battle and invite, which has led to so many moments of success. Each of these experiences has benefited every member of the crew and contributed so much to the Bradford breakin’ scene, building more opportunities for the upcoming generation.
Going into 2025, Clean North and the Bradford scene have a very bright future ahead of them, as each Bboy and Bgirl will continue to train hard, keep the hip-hop mentality, thrive and represent this amazing city!
Thank you to all our supporters, funders, students, parents, families & friends for such an amazing year, we hope you all have a Happy Christmas and New Year and we will see you all in 2025!
